LIVE ON CAMPUS AT LEAST YOUR FIRST YEAR !!!!!!!!!!
|
The main reason to live on campus is because this is the easiest and fastest way to meet the most people. You form friendships that will last you throughout your entire college career and possibly beyond.
It is IMPOSSIBLE for you to have the full college experience if you do not live on campus at least your 1st year. How else would you get to experience all the things you would if you weren't on campus 24/7?!?

The west side dorms at Florida State University, like Smith Hall and Kellum Hall, and even Deviney Hall, are not the nicest dorms on campus, HOWEVER, for whatever reason these are BY FAR the most social and fun dorms to live in.
I have found that people that don't have good or memorable dorm experiences are people that live in the east side "nicer" dorms. MAKE THE MOST OF YOUR FRESHMAN YEAR, it will be one of the most fun year's of your life!!!
Kellum and Smith are co-ed and the guys and girls are either separated by hallways or floors. East side dorms are also more lax when it comes to dorm rules and etc.
I had friends that lived in all the dorms all over campus. And while living in Kellum/Smith/Deviney it is not uncommon to hear people complain how shitty the dorms are, in contrast with going over to what are considered the nicer dorms, you would never really hear or see anyone out and about having fun, etc.
Your choice in dorms would be situational: would you rather live in a nicer room, or would you rather have one hell of a crazy fun dorm experience?
If you are looking for a more social experience, the best dorm room to have would be one at the beginning of your hallway, probably closest to the elevators because everyone constantly will be walking by your room - it is a way of life for dormers, especially in Smith and Kellum, to have their doors propped whenever they are home. People are very social and are always stopping by to hang out when they are home or on their way to and from class.
Obviously, the worst rooms would have to be the ones on either side of the RA or across the hall from them.
